Abstract photographs of Crete

I have been living on Crete for over 6 years and right from the beginning I was fascinated by the decaying, broken and faded objects that can be seen everywhere on the island and have disappeared from sight in the opulent North European societies: shipwrecks, scrapped cars on the side of the road, faded door and window frames, walls, bullet-riddled roadsigns etc... Strange forms and shapes appear while rust and time eat their way through man's creations. Month after month, year after year the unstoppable force of nature reclaims its elements.

By focusing on details of these objects I take them out of their context and offer new interpretations.

My pictures are not manipulated (electronically  or in any other way) beyond the usual manipulations that the act of photography entails.
