My interest in photography arose at a very early age through the influence of my father.

Studied and qualified as art teacher and adult education teacher at the universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg (1975-1985)

Worked in adult education in various places thereafter.

Photographing since 1970.

My main theme was and still is STRUCTURE, at first in b/w and since around 1980 in colour.

I have lived mostly on Crete since 1994.

Solo exhibitions in Xania 1996, Berlin 1997, Rethimnon 1998

The main emphasis of my work is on DETAILS of decaying, rusting, bleached out objects such as boats, cars, doors, walls, fading advertising posters etc.. These details are sometimes only a few centimetres in size and once taken out of their context turn themselves into pictures reminiscent of abstract paintings while still conserving the organic aspect imparted by the ravages of time and weather.

I am interested in structure and detail ...

- when time, the elements, rust and salt are putting their stamp on them, a never-ending story.

- when an order takes shape out of the chaos of the whole.

- when they invite the viewer to imagination, associations and meditation.
